The city of New Bedford is home to many events and cultural diversity in our community. We are home to many great things filled with history including the whaling days. Today New Bedford is the number one port for seafood. We as locals dont realize how blessed we are. In the midst of all this is an event "Feast Of The Blessed Sacrament" which brings together community and family.
As the opening presentation started; many dignitaries including Gov. Charlie Baker, local city council members, guests of the feast and feast members were in attendance. This year is sure to amaze and started with a great PARTY. We believe in PARTIES and support the businesses who make the party industry what it is today. We know the countless hours it takes to plan for an estimated 250,000 people.
This PARTY has a very large bar, carnival rides and games, Portuguese food, concession food and countless vendors such as Simply Sierra Jewelry in New Bedford, Ma and others.
I was present for the opening ceremonies, stayed for dinner, and the Queenryche concert and even had a chance to get a photo
with Gov. Charlie Baker, but not before he had a toast to Madeira wine of course.
The humidity was high, the sun was glaring but it was worth putting up with that. I ordered a Cod sandwich
for dinner and to my surpise is was a cold cod sandwich with onions and amazing seasonings. Perfect for the temperature of the day. I finished that off with some ice cold water.
I went back to work to cool off and returned to see Queensryche which was truly amazing. This gave me my first inside look as a visitor. It's a reminder that we are a community and one big family. Everyone is nice. Catch up with people you havent seen in a while and have cold drinks and food. Now that's my kind of PARTY.
The feast goes on for 3 more days. August 3rd, 4th, and 5th.
